productware goes digital with Siemens eMES solution

In November, productware switched on its Manufacturing Execution System (eMES) SIMATIC IT by Siemens. In future, the company and its customers will be reaping a range of benefits including enhanced, single batch and component trackability (material traceability) and improved capture of machine and quality data (advanced process traceability). Process reliability will be augmented with the real time visualisation of production and quality data and analysis features for specific product and process optimisation measures.

Weakpoints can be identified faster and new solutions generated directly for higher product and manufacturing quality, shorter launch times, and reduced costs.
The interfaces of this eMES solution can handle directly all of the production machine data, including the test system data relevant to quality. Intrinsic design hotspots can then be identified sooner and eliminated for ever. The software also guides personnel through the defined production processes. This and process interlock on forbidden process steps reduce potential fault sources, increasing production quality. The real time supply of control characteristics and their online visualisation enhances transparency over the whole production sequence.
Matthias Hunkel, Operations Manager and Authorised Signatory at productware, summarised his expectations and his experience to date with the new system: “Following an exhaustive and intensive selection procedure, we decided in favour of Siemens eMES because this solution best meets our requirements. Another reason is the strategic alignment of the Siemens system and its extensive functionality over the whole value creation chain of the digital factory. For us, the new software presents a central module in our digitisation strategy on which we can build up our portfolio, offering our customers new, useful services. The first project phase will see us improving material management operations, quality data analyses, and product trackability down to the single item. In my view, this is the perfect analysis tool for the further enhancement of our productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.”
